Qatar, Egypt and the U.S Call for Continued Talks on a Ceasefire in Gaza

«We call on both parties to resume urgent talks on Thursday, 15 August in Doha or Cairo”, underlines the statement issued by the Qatari Emir’s office.
In a joint statement, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Egyptian president and US president Joe Biden urged Hamas and Israel to continue talks on the basis of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The meeting, according to the request of the three international leaders, is proposed for 15 August and it has yet to be defined whether the venue will be Doha or Cairo, capitals of Qatar and Egypt, respectively.

The text also adds that this meeting aims to “fill all remaining gaps and start implementing the agreement without any delay».
In this vein, some mediators indicated that they are ready to make a proposal including a ceasefire.
This proposal will also contain the parameters necessary to achieve the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas at the same time.
